Hello! I’m currently looking into a 1988 Toyota Pickup and I wanted some help. More like an estimated price for this pickup I am trying to purchase. Please let me know what you guys value it around, I’m new to Yotas and I don’t know what to expect. The seller is asking for 4.5k but I feel like it’s a little too high due to the amount of missing interior parts. Thanks!

What part of the country are you in? That makes a difference I think. It looks pretty rust free and in decent condition. I don't know as much about the trucks compared to 4Runners, but I bought my 88 V6 4Runner for $4200 and it was in almost original, good condition. Seattle area. If that truck were for sale here I would think it wouldn't go for more than $2500? But like I said, I don't know how truck prices compare to 4Runners.

I live in Houston Texas, so I don’t know the price inflation. I know some different areas want ridiculous amounts for these vehicles
Personally, unless that truck came with a ton of records or some hidden gold in the glovebox, I wouldn’t pay more than 3,000 for it.
The trucks are easy to find and easy to repair, not to mention that one has the wrong motor for my personal liking, and as you mentioned, missing a bunch of parts.
As 881stgen says, truck prices are very regional. And we don't know your region (not that it would help me). What does Craig Newmark (Craigslist) have to say?
If you want to actually negotiate with the seller, it's a lot more helpful to pull out a print of a Craigslist Ad with "this guy across town has a '92, and he's asking $3200," versus "some anonymous guy on the internet says no more than $2500."
I don't know how Ergodyne knows which engine you're looking at, and I don't know the mileage. Things I'd want to know.
There is not a chance in hell I could find a first gen tacoma around here(western Canada) for anything less than $7,000.00, believe me, I've looked. $4,500.00 for a fairly mechanically sound not rusted to hell 88 is not outrageous where I live.

OP notes houston in 3rd post, and pics indicate a v6 badged grille; for an ‘88, that would be the 3.0

picking it up for 4,000 next week. Looked at listings and sold vehicles on Facebook and they seem To go for quite a bit more even with ridiculous mileage

You're correct, it is very regional. That being said I do see them drop that low down in the Seattle area. I'm not sure what the laws would be as far as taking it back to BC from here, but here is a prime example of what I'm talking about.
Again, don't know anything about this truck, just grabbed it off craigslist. But its a barebones 4x4 with decent miles for a 2.7.
Also this probably doesn't help the OP much unless he wanted to come all the way up here.

I live in East Tx. Started looking for an old Toyota as 3rd vehicle so we had something to turn wrenches with my soon to be driving boys. Spent 2 years looking at 80’s pickups or 4Runner, stopping on backroads, viewing Craig’s list, facechat etc.... Saw many in worse shape than that in the 4-5K range but never saw one less than 4K. Finally found our 88 4Runner in Dallas and paid 6K for it. When we started looking, I had visions of finding one priced like the 1981 I got in high school. No dice, they’ve all seem to be roaches out or converted to hunt rigs. I haven’t regretted it, especially since he’s the only one in his HS that knows how to drive a stick and operate a tape deck
The trucks are mostly diesels and they came with SFA until 1988 if I remember correctly. The owners are selling the diesels because they have to pay higher taxes now and they're being banned to enter in certain cities, and for the same reason, they're not easy to sell.
