Looking to buy a 4Runner

I'm currently looking at buying a 1995 4Runner from a friend. It's has the SR5 package 3.0 V6, and is 4x4. It is an automatic. It has the OME ball joint spacer lift and coils in the rear with 33" BFG Mud Terrain KM2s. It also has a roof rack. He wants $4,500 for it.

The kicker is it has 256,000 miles. Everything seems to work except it needs a new drivers side CV axle boot as it is torn aka a new CV axle installed.

Should I be worried? I haven't asked him about maintenance records, I plan on doing that tomorrow.

Any advice is appreciated.

$4500 for a 4runner with a 3.0/auto/256k is definitely not a "friend price". that's the price you start high with on CraigsList for a rig like that. personally, i would pass on this one - let him put it up for sale, and when it doesn't sell after a few weeks you can offer him something like $3k if you truly want this rig. the 2" lift, BFGs, and roof rack don't warrant the price hike either. CV axles are cheap and very easy to replace. Now, if the rig had all those goodies, plus a rebuilt engine, lockers, gears, armor, etc - THEN it might be worth $4500 (and I'm used to seeing CA prices!)

if you're willing to spend $4500 on this rig, I would recommend you spend slightly more on a 96+ 3rd gen 4runner just so you can get the better 3.4L engine. I think you'll be much happier.

Mine only has 213,000 on it. I'll let you have it for $4,995.

Its a good thing you came here first and asked, that price is robbery, you can get a half decent 3rd gen for that price
