Looking to buy a 1994 taco...
Hi all, i am looking at a 1995 std. cab short bed tocoma 4x4 with 148,000 miles. it is a 4 cyl. with a 5 speed manual. it appears to be in REALLY good condition. i am thinking about buying it and selling my chevy s10 ZR2. what do you guys think??
Are there any common problems with this year??
would this truck be a reliable buy??
the guy is asking $6000 for it, is this reasonable?? i think it might be too high. please bear with me since i am new to toyotas. any and all input will be great!!

I think it is a fair price. Where I live it's not uncommon to see 91 - 95's go for 6 - $9000.
So as long as everything is in good shape and the owner kept up with regular maintenance, not bad rust, ect... it sounds like a not bad deal. Just find out what he recently replaced and stuff; you probably dont want to switch out a timing chain or diff as soon as you get it.
And remember if you sell it you can easily ask for what you paid. I say sell the chev and get that yota.

i'd say the price is slightly on the high side, but i dont know what they typically retail for in CO. deffinately a better truck than the s-10 as far as reliability though.
as long as it's clean, i'd make an offer on it. $6k is only the asking price anyway...
ps. if its a 95 taco, this i the wrong forum, and you'd get better technical advice in that forum as far as common issues. if its a 95 (or 94 as the title says) pickup then this is the right forum

KBB is a joke. If you're any thing other than a dealer trying to rape people, than you shouldn't use it.
I'd say 6K is reasonable, depending on rust, but it is at the highest end of the spectrum.

Too high a price for a standard cab!
Keep looking, I live in PA but, I go on eBay a few times a week and also Craigslist (go on CraigsHelper for better, wider searches) so I can safely say that price is out of line with the norm.
I bought my '93 Extra-cab 4x4 v6/ 5spd. one-owner, 69,500mi. a few months ago for $5500.
Now accross the country that is a little above average but, there are "pocket areas" that these trucks will fetch a little higher price.
I know that I live in one of these pockets and from what I have observed from online sales and auctions you are in one too (entire state of California seems to be a "pocket area" also).
Its OK to ask for help but, personal research is always best, I suggest that you might want to look a little newer, at a "real" Tacoma they started in '95.5.
They have more powerful engines, a little nicer styling, are a bit more comfortable, and still have a strong aftermarket presence for parts.
Have fun and we would gladly welcome you to the fold!!!
