Long Blocks - common to get mis-matched?

I am looking at a local rebuilders list, and they list a 93-95 Toyote 3vze, but not an older model for my 1990 model. I am pretty sure they will have it, but I haven't called yet.

I am a little concerned about buying a long block, taking mine out, and being ready to put it all back in before I realize that it isn't the same (or some parts wont work).

Is it a common problem to purchase a long block and have them send you the wrong year model?

Or will the accessories bolt to all of the 3vze's, no matter which year it's from? I thought I read that some sensors, wiring connectors, etc...were different.

I am going to call tomorrow. Just wanted to see if anyone has run into this problem. I'm sure rebuilders sell them wrong from time to time. My main concern is that I don't know how to tell the difference between a 1990 engine and a 1993.

Thanks
Shawn

IIRC the internal parts are the only thing that is different.

I've read a few posts about how some water outlet is different, a few fittings and plugs are different, and what not.

I'm just wondering if these parts are on the long block part of the engine, or if they are associated with the accessories (which I will re-use).

I plan to call the local engine shop today and see what they say.

Thanks
Shawn

I believe there is a difference in the way that the passenger side motor mount bracket and A/C bracket bolt to the block. The block is different on that side.

Also there is a heater hose that runs from the water outlet on top of the engine down to the driver's side block where a block drain would be.
