Line x bed liner

we'll guys i finally saved some money so that i could go and get the bed liner sprayed. The only problem is that there are large creases in between the inner and exterior be wall. My local line x 3dealer suggested that i use silicone caulk and caulk these holes so that dirt and debris don't get in there. He said that was the main cause for rusting the sidewalls of your truck bed out. so what should i do caulk or leave it where i can pull the panels. He said that the spray was just looking for somewhere to go so that it could bond together. Thanks guys any help would be appreciated on this one. Clint

why dont you just do a roll on bed liner with one of thoes kits you can pick up anywhere? with the $500 you would pay for a professional sprayed down system you can coat your whole truck with that stuff. ive seen a few beds come out looking good with it

Thickness of Line-X/Rhyno liner: 1/8", thickness of generic roll on liner: 1/32" if you put a lot of coats on.
Warrenty on Line-X: limited lifetime, on roll on: none.
There are good liners, and are worth the coin.

Probably wouldn't be a bad idea to seal the bed. Toyota build these beds to NOT have replaceable bed sides, so if you do get rust in there it's a bigger job to fix, and requires cutting out anyways. I'd listen to the dealer and seal it up before you get a liner sprayed in. However, before you do, I'd get inside your panels to make sure that there is no rust in there to begin with. Easier to fix now, rather than once you have a "cut proof" liner in there.

If you have an 84-88 truck, you can actually pull out those side panels.

When I got my 87 done, I pulled out the side panels and had them spray behind them as well as on top of them so there was absolutely no room for rust.

Not sure how things work on 89-95.5's

I just had mine done a few weeks ago at Line X here in Redding, CA. we removed the side panels and sprayed the inside panels. The outer panels were sprayed off the truck. See the pictures.

I was also concerned about rust since Toyota does not even paint the backsides of the fenders. Total price was $400

Stay away from that cold application liner in a can it's not worth a crap.

BTW The side panels fit back in really nice and I used stainless steel button head Allen machine screws to top it off when I got the truck home.
