You're wrong. Lol.

http://www.animegame.com/cars/Oil%20Tests.pdf
Its a test of 18 different brands of motor oil. Including mobil 1 and Royal purple.
Royoal purple showed SIGNIFICANTLY LESS WEAR.

So i'm reading this post asking my self, "did he really just post an oil test from an anime site?
"But I went ahead and read it and thats a pretty cool test they did. Makes me feel better about my $100 oil changes on my diesel (11 quarts of Royal Purple). I think I'll start using it in the Toy after reading that!
THanks for posting that link!

Thats the standard test that's been in use for film strength in oils since like 1935, lol.
I saw a test on powerblock a while back where they did this using some spray on lubricant by royal purple, and like 3-4 other oils (un-named so as to not defame). The royal purple caused the machine to slow down, then speed back up to normal speed. The RP rep then removed the small vat of oil to demonstrate the film properties of the oil. The machine stayed on
Edit: Yeah i didnt realise that was an anime thing, i just found the article when i googled lol.

X2 on the warm up statement,in cold weather Im idling 4 to 8 minutes before departure.Until choke releases. My brother has an 09 dodge 1500 quad-cab 4x4 and hes only getting 13/17 mpg.Truck/Suvs are not known for good gas mileage but try going off-roading,hopping a curb, skipping thru a ditch in a prius.

I'm not seeing anything that talks about royal purple, or it's film strength.
If anything, you supported my argument.
"As it turns out synthetic oils do cling to parts better as they have higher film strength than mineral oils. Synthetics are thinner overall. They have greater slipperiness. Yet they stick better to engine parts. Again, this concept is the opposite of normal thinking."
Aaaaaand, all the oils he recommends are in that article for film strength.
the valvoline does score quite high on that test.

i found it interesting that after re-reading that article i linked to..
they did the same thing with the royal purple stuff, they removed the small cup of oil from the test, and the machine kept going, the amperage didnt spike either.

Ok lets talk. Theres only two types of oil:
#1Synthetic
#2Conventional
Theres nothing else different, theres nothing else wooppiiee more slippery or greasey or better. All kinds of oil offer tests and warrantys and all sorts of cool stuff. Synthetic and conventional are the "ONLY" types of oil. Just cause something has a cooler brand name don't mean nothing. Plus if his engine has been running Conv. its best to keep running it. Sometimes switching to syn can have engine serious issues..... but not always... i mean if your running royal purp thats great wooppiiee more power to ya but its nothing special.

I got one that may help you with a mpg or 2; do the Seafoam trick; warm up the 4rnr, pull off the vaccuum brake line, slowly suck in 6 oz. of seafoam. Just fast enough to bog it down, but DON'T KILL THE ENGINE, THAT IS A BAD THING!
once the 6 oz is gone, immdediately jump over and turn off the key, or have someone sitting there, to do it for you. Then wait at least 15 min, 30 would be better. Then go out, and restart your truck, with the vac hose, at least a bit back on, it does not need to go on all the way. What will happen next, will amaze and scare the hell out of you; black, grey, and white smoke will begin to billow out of your tailpipe, water and goo may flow out of your tail pipe, and sit in it and rev it, up and down , up and down, and hold on 3500 rpms, for about 10 seconds at a time. Make sure you do this, when no one else is at home, or your neighbors; they are going to think you are setting the neighborhood on fire!!!!
After about 10 minutes of this, it will start to blow out a bit clear. Turn off
the engine. pull vaccuum hose off again.
Repeat the above treatment steps with another 6 oz, then add the remaining 6 oz to your gas tank, have at least 7 gals of gas in there, when you do this.
what you will notice after doing this, is quick A!@#$ss response on the throttle, and some peppiness, and some serious idle smootheness will settle in.
I do the Seafoam to all my vehicles. You may even have to turn down your big Idle screw a bit, your engine will suddenly be seeming to idle higher...
