Lets talk about ignition
On my 88 yota with a 22re i want to upgrade coil so here my questions. #1 is the stock coil a ballist or non ballist resistor style coil. # has anyone tried the blaster 2 coil. #3 due i need to goto bigger plug wires instead of the stock 7 mm. #4 and the plug is a ngk BPR5EY with a gap of 0.8mm (0.03in).is that a good plug and due i need to increase gap for higher spark voltage. I am open to suggestion. My performance chip will be here in 3 days.

Unless your running a full aftermarket ignition, I would just leave the stock coil. These things are the GM HEI systems of the import world IMO. Now of course I am running a full Crane Fireball in mine. But price was good and I am happy with it so far. Heck I only spent $40 on the whole setup.

nah a friend of mine had it laying in basement and is giving it to me. as far as the msd yeah the blaster2 coil and a 6 sumtin box and a tach adapter. why is the fireball a good setup. This 22re is not longer in a pickup as it was totaled. Now it sets in my 75 Celica Gt

see ENGNBLDR for a good cam. Call him and let him know it's in a Celica now. I like the idea of having a rev limiter now on my carb'd truck. Midrange throttle response also seems better. Didn't notice much on the power/mpg improvement though. Like said I only paid $40 for the whole thing. IMO the carb'd trucks see more of an improvement then an EFI truck would with an aftermarket ignition.
IMO the MSD units are a better fit for the toys because you can use the distributor to trigger the box instead of having to trigger it with the igniter.
The way I currently have mine wired in, I can switch out to the original coil/ignition setup if need be. So far though I have had zero issues with mine.
P.S> Post up some pics of that Celica. I am sure it would be appreciated here. My first car was a 77 Celica GT. Yellow Liftback.
To this day I wish I still had that thing.
