Almost to the point of taking off the cab and just buying a new one.

Basically, my cab stinks. I won't sit in it more than a minute. I've sprayed numerous chemicals inside to rid the smell, and still has a nasty mildew smell. The dash is just nasty looking. And, to boot, the moon/sun roof leaks water. There is a pool of water on my floor, which I don't have any interior anyway.

So, what should I do? I don't care about opening up the roof or not. I want to take it out...and weld a piece of metal over the top. But of course I don't have a welder.

How about pulling the sun roof off and riviting a piece of sheet metal over the hole. Use butyle rubber tape instead of caulk under it to seal it. Aluminum rivits would be good I'd think. Use metal called either Galvaneel or Paint grip, at least around here. I'm sure a HVAC sheet metal shop would sell you a drop for cheap if not free. Wouldn't be pretty but should help dry you up. Windshield could be leaking too.

The mildew smell is probably being caused by wet padding under the floor covering and by the seats getting wet. You're not going to get rid of it until you can keep the interior dry and clean it up. You could put a thin bead of a butyl sealant around the seal on the sunroof to seal it but still keep the cool-like-that glass up there.

 

take a presure washer to it, then open it up and put a heater in it for a day or so, then leave everything open

or maby even take out everything and let it lay in the sun for a few days

 

ive had 3 trucks that are like this. the floor mat gets wet and never dries it just gets nastier by the day so heres what to do
pull out the seats and mask off the dash.
tear out the cover-all mat on the floor.
there will be some fabric sort of stuff under there tear all that out (if your lucky it will come out with the rubber mat)
pull all the floorboard ruber plugs and hose the inside down.
pour some bleach in there and scrub the hell out of it.
once its fully dry spray the whole thing with spray paint or hurculiner.
if the seats are hopelessly smelly then get some junkyard seats from a civic or another pickup

 

lookslike you have mold on the plastic trim on your pillar too. i would tear that out as well but you could try just cleaning it up with simple green or somethin

nah they put dead pigs in a corvette and let it sit for a few months and then tried to clean it and sell the car.

I'll get to work on this method. So far this sounds about the best.

I'm curious as if the nasty stench could also make the windows smell too.

I've already ripped out ALL the interior besides the dash. lol

missing? the box under the dash the heater core sets in. maybe there's some leaves and stuff up in there that are molding?

 

Yeah, the fan is completely removed. He said he needed it for his other truck awhile back

I pulled everything out of mine today. I found out it was evident the previous owners have been playing in the mud. I vacuumed and cleaned most of the junk. Junked the bench seat. Test fitted a set of Eclipse bucket seats. Then removed every thing in the way of the floorboard carpet and all. Now I'm going to get to sanding/cleaning the remaining mud on it and put some type of spray on liner on the floor board.

 

gut the interior, clean EVERYTHING, find the leaks and stop them, then put it all back together

 

I have the factory sun roof in my truck also. I noticed the seal getting worn and rotted. I went to the toyota dealership and bought a brand new one. It cost me like 15 bucks. I even got a senior discount, i asked for one cause my yota is so old and they actually gave it to me
