My 93 toyota pickup 4x4 extendcab automatic is leaking trans fluid. The trans cooler seems to be leaking as well as the line(s) from the cooler to the transmission. The lines appear to be braided lines.

Can these lines be replaced with a rubber fuel line? if not, where can i buy the cooler and the lines? Thanks in advance

 

No, don't use rubber fuel line, its not rated for heat. Only use ATF cooling hose. You can find it at O'reillys or Pepboys. You might want to check your ATF for coolant contamination if you think your factory cooler is leaking.

 

Not saying its the right thing to do as MT GOAT said but I patched a section of my line with a piece of rubber line and it was fine for over a year till I got rid of my truck and was still fine then

I was going to get a new metal line but a mechanic I know actually told me to just use a good rubber line with good clamps and it will be fine. I don't even know if it was rated for heat or anything just sharing my experience.

 

AutoZone sells Goodyear 3/8" transmission oil cooler line. Gave them the old inlet hose and asked them to cut me a new one, $1.19. The only difference I could see is that the old hose had a second layer of sheathing around it. The new hose fit tightly, so it seems like a good fix.

Alternatively, you can buy this part from one of the OEM parts places, part #32941‑60070, cheapest price I found was about $38 before shipping. Ouch.
