Question leaking #4 fuel injector and truck wont start.

its a 88 pickup with 22re and it wont start, heard a hiss noise and found that #4 injector is leaking,( fuel pump always working when ke is just on. the mass air flow sensor is making a racket also when i try to start. got this truck from brother. he had it rebuilt 40,000 ago and he was at a light when it just quit, he fired it back up and it wouldnt idle but ran fine at high rpm. put a tune up on it and then drove with same problem. now it wont even start. he says he did compression test and 1,3 were half but im not sure he did it right. the truck trys to start but no luck, i checked timing and it seemed ok. any help would be great. ill try a few things and replace o-ring, let yall know how it goes.

Put a little WD-40 on your O-ring when you go to put it in. I knicked mine when replacing it dry and had a bad leak.

I havent ever heard of a noisey MAF. It wont run with the MAF messed up or not hooked up. Check all of your other connections also.

ok so i fixed injector leak and then it fired up but is running really rough and wont idle. so i took exhaust off to see if it was clogged and its not. the i put hand over it and it has vacum and low pressure. anyway its not even close when the timing light is on it until i turn it clockwise at full retard and it runs ok. is it just a tooth off or whats going on im so lost. also the timing chain, i can push on it and hear the tensioner squeeze oil out, is it sopposed to?

It is possible to get it a tooth off and it still run. Are you jumping T1 and E1? You wont get timing set without it jumped.
