Leaf springs swap?

Hey guys, so my leaf packs are shot, as in middle leafs completely busted, and have been looking around for some used replacements. My grandpa called me up today and said he found a set from a guy he know and I can have them for free. Only thing is that they came from "an early 90's" (grandpa's words) and my truck is an 86. Anyone know if this swap would work? There is about 1-1/4" difference in length, my springs being shorter, between the two. Haven't delt with any rear suspension stuff yet so this is new to me. If that won't work, my other thought is to just build new leaf packs by combining the two sets since they're the same width?
Thoughts?

There should be about a 4" difference between the springs, yours being ~47" and the early 90's being ~51" measuring the flat length. Also, the locating pin is different on the two, so it would probably be necessary to relocate the spring mount and shackle mount. I run the 51" springs on the front of my rig, so it can be done, but takes some work. It might be easier to use your main leaf (the one with the spring eyes) and mix in some leafs from the other pack to replace your damaged ones.

Hm...thanks for the link but my tablet didnt show it very well so i'll check it out tmorrow again. I guess i'll give gpa a call and have him check again. He gave me a measurement of 48-1/2" from bolt hole to bolt hole and i meaured mine at 47. He's 200 miles away so i dont have a chance to see them myself until i go back to see my parents. I'll call him tomorrow
