what kind of relay did you use? i just attached the positive end to an ignition curcut, and the neg to ground.
ALSO: built a new shroud (caus the ole on got ripped apart by the old fan
) out of stove pipe and a good coating of paint. i figured that the palcement wouldnt draw as much air through the radiator)

Has anyone tried one of these? I have only found people doing the electrical fan swaps. Doesn't seem like it would make a huge difference, but there is one on craigslist locally, so at least I wouldn't be paying retail to find out. Any feedback would be appreciated. And yes, I used the search function.

I have a black magic flex-a-lite fan on mine.... I love it!
It cools the coolant perfectly and have it set to where it comes on after a certain amount of heat.
Also, It added some power. I think that flex-a-lite says you gain anywhere from 10-15 horses just by putting it in

same concept when removing a mechanical fan; you're not making the motor produce more power, you're just making it to where the motor can put that power it was using to turn the fan, now to the wheels

this is like that Mythbusters episode, trying to take off in an airplane while on a moving runway, lol

I would rather have the stock clutch fan any day over that little electric fan. The fan clutch doesn't rob you of more than a few HP. The factory clutch fan is a great fan & works very well. If you are overheating from slow crawling then by all means get a good OEM E fan. If you don't run hot then I wouldn't change a thing cause you won't gain enough power to feel.

that's how it's supposed to be. Mine is wired straight to a switch that I turn on before I turn on the truck.
