Angry Knock Sensor, will it run without it?

Okay gents I have about had it with this engine. I am replacing the fuel injectors because of a leak (second time in two months the manifold is off) and have found that many of the wires on the driver side of the engine are toasted. I have replaced some of the connectors and need to pick up a couple more. I have a new knock sensor wire but the darn thing looks toasted right at the point it passes between the block and intake manifold. I am tempted to try to sleeve the wires with heat shrink as I really do not want to tear it appart. In fact if I have to do it, I will just swap the engine at this point.

So will this thing work without it?
