knock sensor - help

just joined the toyota truck owners club. having fun with putting this truck back to the way it should be. its a 93, and supposed to have an engine out of a 90. its a 22re. got all the codes out of it except 1. knock sensor. well i found out why i am getting the code. there is nothing connected to the knock sensor. cant find a loose plug around anywhere. the only thing i have found so far is a single black wire, in a rubber loom. this is coming from the wire harness that runs under the intake. from doing some searching here, i understand the connector should have a shielded wire going to the knock sensor itself, and maybe another connector under the intake?

any help with connector color, wire color, where this wire runs to, would be greatly appreciated.

i just bought this ride and i need to get it emmisions inspected, and from what i gather this may have an effect on it passing emmisions.

thanks in advance.

single black wire? 1 very small female connector inside the plug?

i think im am on the right track, closer look of the situation has revealed the wire was snapped from the plug, and the plug was still connected to the knock sensor itself. i did find a black wire in like a hard rubber/plastic, somewhat hard to bend sheath. i jury rigged it up, but still getting a code for knock sensor. thats not to say the sensor isnt bad itself.

the wire i found looks identical to that wire. any one else want to confirm?

thanks

That is the connector for the knock sensor. I bought my truck and the PO had taken the KS out.
Do a search on here for knock sensor, several guys have had problems with wires being broken. Have you reset ECU since you hooked up the KS?

update

so far so good. i have definetly found the wire, did a little continuity check from the harness at the ecu to the wire and low and behold, we have continuity. ran it for a while and no cel. just have to figure out a way to keep it plugged in since i bitched up the plug trying to do the repair.

thanks for your help guys, the information on this web site is invaluable.

the haynes manual......not so good. the electrical diagrams should say "this is what it might look like" or "try testing all the wires in this area". the ecu pin set up is not correct for my truck, nor does it have the right one.

so...onward and upward to bigger and better things. inspection, emissions, then some oil leaks.
