Keep my truck or get newer one?

I have a 86 pickup, std cab, 22r.

Ive always loved the 84-88 body style of the pickups. The downside is that its not a comfortable truck right now. I always find myself taking my parents tahoe or silverado when i go out at night.

So i was thinking about getting a newer pickup, or early tacoma...but then i find myself thinking about my plans for my 86.(sas/35's, or even 33x10.5's/no sas) and how awesome it'll be. But then my interior is still beatup and brown.

I wish i could just find an 88 ext cab pickup with grey interior xD

what are your opinions yotatech.

Glad you have sense of humor. I stay away from 3.0. It all depends on your budget. I get newer vehicle for power, comfort, and less fiddling around.

But if you like getting dirty and mechanically inclined then the sky is the limit.

Do both.
Keep the '86 for your mentioned plans (trail rig) and buy a newer one, '96+ for your DD.

Resale on the 86 isn't high enough to justify selling it to get something else if you love the truck and have put money in to it. Keep it and continue to work on it and modify it in to the truck you want to wheel in, then buy a newer one to take the chicks out in.

If I was buying a newer taco I'd look at 2002-newer. I love the curved grill of that body style. They're still a little pricey but worth it IMO.

If it wasn't a taco, I'd buy a V8 Tundra. They can be had for about the same price as the newer taco's. I'd kill for a standard cab Tundra in the newer body style with the 5.7l and 4x4, but they're over $30k...

X2. I'd keep the old one for a trail rig, and get a new one for a DD as well. And I'm thinking about doing that here pretty soon.

It took me forever to find my truck but it's falling apart, I suppose from playing in a creek bed that was pretty full of water every weekend for months and it just being old.

I thought about selling my truck because of all the issues but I love it so much when I'm not having any stupid problems.

I'll probably get two cars like I have in the past. Right now is not a good time to only have my truck to drive.

I thought about getting a new truck, but i've only got 93k miles on mine, and shopping around i'd end up paying like $8k for a truck with more miles than the one i've got now lol. Then when I do find low mileage newer ones they're almost as much as buying a brand new one.

keep ur truck, upgrade the motor in it a little and lift er' up. great platform to start with, unfortunatly i got the 3.0 in mine. i'd definatly stay away from it, keep ur 22re or put a 3.4L in it, which ill be doing soon, but dont invest money into a second gen truck either, first or 3rd is the only way to go
