Yeah, rebuilding those valve covers is a chore, I spent like 4 hours honing mine and I have at least another 2 weeks of repitching my bolts so they screw in faster, it's hard work but worth it in the end

I've got NOS on mine. It runs like a beast for 2 minutes and 46 bucks to fill the tank, and the kit was $400. was worth it? when my 4runner does a fatty burn out, it was woth every cent.

Oh yea! When I rebuilt my valve covers I got at least 21 more horsepower! I can't believe everyone doesn't do it. You can really feel it at the wheel ( unless you're in 4wd, then wheels)

Talking

Sweet! I hear those carbon fiber valve covers give you like 5 more horsepower than the YotaTech sticker does, anyone still making them, the valve covers I mean?

I was holding back on reporting this, but I'm prototyping a valve cover that turns the stock valve train in to a desmodromic configuration with roller followers over the cam and hydraulic tensioners.

Basically, the rocker arms follow the cam with rollers and there are hydraulic adjusters taking up the slack. What's not seen is the linkage that is part of the valve cover and uses hydraulic principles and closes the valves without the high tension from the valve springs- just a little bit to keep a valve closed.

It's like what you'd expect if a 'yota cross bred with a Ducati motorcycle.

My hold-up is "prior art" and feasibility studies.
