we're here, nice day today -15C I've seen other TB's like GMs 3100, TPI run coolant into the TB's which I assumed was this case as well- don't know enough about Toyota...yet. Lost sleep last night after reading this thread as I did the same job and was actually afraid to start it...I've done a few mods and I don't think the ecm is happy at the moment but it seems to run solid- except that arp doesn't mention that you need to grind on the valve cover to get it to clear the studs and seal- scratched head for 5 minutes watching steam coming out the front of the cover. Anyway- if there is coolant in those lines- reading the post I might have thought he ran one into the plenum.

 

Did you remove/replace the drain plug on the oil pan one last time before filling everything back up?
Sounds to me like coolant may have remained in the oil pan from the beginning. Just guessing here.

 

Update!

did 2 more oil flushes, and the oil is coming out clean, and no more white smoke once its warmed up! Comes up to operating temp and stays there. No overheating, no external leaks, clean oil, coolant level steady.... looks like I'm ok!

So relieved! Thanks for all your help everyone.

Woo! I am soo happy. Been driving it all around today and it's running fantastic. No leaks no nothing. Gonna check the valve clearances tomorrow and get it timed by my mechanic... I know it's very close but I'll have him hit it with a gun to make sure its nuts on. I am very pleased with the torque from the new head and cam. Much more low end.

I couldn't have done it without all the help and support from yotatech though, I owe you guys! I'll be rocking a yotatech sticker on my t4r for sure!

just a thought.....maybe consider running some sea-foam in your oil or, and I've really read this,transmission fluid to remove crap / condensation etc. Search that last part about the tranny fluid, don't quote me but i do know when i used the THERMAGASKET stuff on my truck, I added half a can of sea foam to my gas and half a can to my oil "to remove water". Not sure how effective that is and I've seen plenty of debate about sea-foam.

Supra, time it yourself, you will be glad you did, its easy , and its another feather in your cap. If you can borrow a timing light, all the better . Takes all of 5 minutes to do. Well that and warming up vehicle real good. And Congrats, so far.
