Just Died
Alright, I was driving home this evening and she just quit (92 Pickup, speck in sig). I have a new fuel filter, good air filter, new cap & rotor with plugs, and 1/2 tank gas. I know I have a bad knock sensor, throwing codes. So I was heading home and just quit...nothing. All electric works, starter runs and it has spark, will hit like 3 times and die. Am I looking at a fuel pump? Will this throw a code as well. She is sitting a few miles from home now, Will know more tomorrow evening when I can get to her. Any ideas will be helpful.

hmmmm, could be fuel pump yes, but I would start by narrowing down what's NOT happening in the engine bay that needs to happen for the engine to run; check for spark first (could be pickup in the dizzy, coil, ignitor, etc), then fuel (could be pump, regulator, wiring circut, etc.), and go from there
worst it could be is the ECU

but seems like spark is there, she will hit 2 or 3 times while cranking then nothing. Let her sit for 30 sec and go again and the same thing. really strange!!!!

I will this evening...it was 10:00 when she quit and I was wanting to get home. Had a few and didn't need the trouble
(3 drinks puts you over the limit) Didn't have a light or a paperclip with me ether, other wise I would have ran the codes...
I was thinking...I have not fueled up for a bit...maybe the fuel gauge quit working just maybe it's hung up on something.
I'm going to try dumping some gas in it.
It has all the symptoms of no gas except for the gauge reading 1/2 tank. I'm hoping...

OK this is what I have now...Dumped gas in and yes the needle moved so it wasn't out. All fuses seem to be alright. I have spark it's not getting fuel. I did check the "Cold Start Valve" and nothing came out. So I put some gas in the intake, I have an aftermarket intake with a small hose on it. So I poured a little in and she fired up and ran for about 10 seconds, until the gas ran out...
So now I need to find why the pump is not turning on or is the pump shot?
How do I test to see if the pump is good? Are there just a few wires I can jump?
Do I have to drop the tank to do this?

to test the pump have some one sit inside and ear for the pump to turn on when they turn the key over it should hum or something and you should hear it if not then it could be the pump

I have never been able to hear the pump, unless you can't hear it in the cab...as of now I know the pump is not running. I need to know why??? Time for reading, tracing wires and I guess I gotta drop the tank.

Anyone...Are there 2 wires under the hood that I can jump to test?
How about relays? Am I missing something?
I really do not want to drop the tank if I don't have to...
I'm looking for a FSM now.

Open the diagnostic connector and jumper the Fp and +B terminals.

As for relays, the Circuit Opening Relay controls the fuel pump. It gets 2 signals, either one of which should actuate the fuel pump.
-1: turn the key and crank the engine closes the COR and the pump should run.
-2: engine is running therefore a contact in the air-flow meter (on top of the air filter) causes the COR to close and actuate the fuel pump.

I know I know...Ok here is another one...What do the Fp and +B terminals do? Which ones are they? This is all I have to go on right now...Mine looks like the top one.

Fp is "Fuel pump" and +B is "positive battery". Jumpering them connects the fuel pump to the battery (when the key is on).
Your truck's connector should have a lid on it and on the underside of the lid is a diagram showing the labels assigned to the terminals.
