just bought 86 xtra cab!
So I just bought a 86 toyota xtra cab truck with189k original miles. It is 4cyl 22re 4x4 auto with a 3" body lift and 285/75/16" tires. I originally wanted a manual but I couldn't find one in my price range anf within a reasonable distance. I paid $1700 for it and all I have had to do is change the ball joints and shocks. My question is are all of the trucks super slow? I thought at first there migjt be somthing wrong witj the tranny but it shifts like it should and the motor sounds amazing, but when I get on the highway it feels like it takes a few minutes to get to 45! Can anyone shed some light? Thanks

The 22re with an automatic transmission is about the slowest combination out there in the Toyota pickup world.
285/75 tires are roughly 33" tall. Did the previous owner regear for those tires? If not, that could explain the slow acceleration. I'm not saying it's the only cause, but wrong gearing plays a big part.

Well I figured the tires have a decent part in it so I plan on getting smaller tires like 245/75-16 or 265/75/16. Its def is not regeared so that may be the main issue. I just don't know what a normal 22re 4x4 truck is supposed to drive like. I've had lifted jeep wranglers and cherokees and not one comes to ever being this slow
