and Stan Thank you!! Will be saving those to my computer.

86STLRunner I was priced 36 for the tumbler, and have no idea for the wiring part, its all gone pretty much in this thing. As far as reselling it, is unlikely, i love the thing. You'll see why im wiring it different!

Thanks Austin! I'm havin fun with it!

Figured out the freakin issue with the tailgate stuff. There is a switch under the lip of the cap, which is i guess a pressure switch so when the cap is off the back electrics wont operate, so when your driving along and an arm, dog whatever touches the window button it wont roll up.... Cant believe i missed this! Does anyone else have it in theres? Im getting rid of it, im running the buttons somewhere else as im getting rid of the center console, so it should get hit, i hope.

Today i did a few things to the rig. Took the top and doors off to see what it looked like. Love the look! Can't wait for the summer months. Still have to get the grill and put it on.

My drivers side seat was broken, seemed to be a very poor design for the welds that held it together. I just used the holes that held the metal bracket originally and drilled through the seats frame. Way more solid then what the stock one looked like.

My brother has agreed to let me use whatever i want from his chev parts truck. Sadly no 4.3 vortec in it anymore, woulda made a cool possible swap. But i can get plenty of use out of the electronics, speakers, interior stuff. Im definately going to ad rear speakers, get a little more sound going. I also have a whole bunch of wiring out of the truck, which i can use to rewire some of the crusty old stuff the runner has. I have a full day off tomorrow and it is supposed to be warm! TRUCK DAY!!

I've been making little lists of things to do certain days. Still need 15+ weather for the bedliner floors...

Tomorrow should bring
-Getting rid of rear heater lines, i have yet to do, easy process.
-Re hook up the tailgate electrics
-Soder some new points for the fuel pump, old ones are corroded
-See if it runs, most likely going to have to do the fuel relay trick
-I do have some taillight lenses that are a close fit, they are not from a toyota (98 chev 1500) As much as buying new ones is easy, this is free
-Found some cornering light replacements, also not from a toyota but very similar (98 chev 1500)

I have a few other little things to see if they work, but ill leave that to the imagination until i get pictures.

I also had an idea about the saggy rear end. I read up on the no cut zuk mod, seems like it would be pretty straight forward. I have 2 ideas though.
The front suspension in the chev 1500 has springs, as its only a 2wd. I have not measured them but they may work, however im not sure if they would be too heavy duty. Any thoughts?
My second idea, is in place of the stock shocks is run some adjustable rear 4wheeler "coilovers" Front 4wheeler ones could work too. That way if i want a tad bit softer i could loosen off with the tool. My only concern is the strength of the shock mounts, you would think they were fairly tough, they do take the alot of pressure. If anyone thinks its a good idea let me know!

Hey what is all the white stuff all over the ground?

You have a lot of work to do on the runner, but looks like you are enjoying it and that is great. If I ever get around to it I will have to start a build thread on mine.

I started rumaging through the chevy 1500 for random stuff, i found these door pieces, they'll be prefect for putting in rear speakers.

This is likely where ill put them, doesn't look too bad i think.

Had a couple of these so i decided to use one on my gas cap lid. It was missing its lock and looked crappy just being sort of closed.

I just used some self tappers to hold it in. Covers up the hole pretty good.

When closed it wasn't sitting right, so i cut off a little bit to get it to sit flat.

Rotate that chevy speaker cover, eg put it on the other side, small end forward "new cut" end to the rear also this might interfere with the seats folding. Stock speaker locations are behind the seats.

For future reference the covers on these seats are just held with the rings you'll find at the bottom might be under a dust cover, no need to cut. Think it's covered in the big seat swap thread, post is about swapping D/P side cushion.

I totally forgot to see if the fold down clearance will be an issue, ill check that tomorrow, it may be OK but a little tight. And as far as stock speaker locations mine didn't have any... For the rear speakers somebody hack jobbed the panel out back and put them in. My radio wiring harness didn't even have any rear speaker wires coming from it... Must be a rare occassion.

Wanted to see what it looked like... Can't wait for the lift and my mud tires to be here. (These are 35s my mud terrains are 36s) Needs a little clearance

Side view, the stock tires are pretty flat and also at a lower height then the 35s so it just looks like ill need waayyy more.

Just a little update. Went through some ideas with things. Really just random stuff.

I'm going to make a little name plate out of an old flat wrench. Not really an offroad thing, but ive been into the ratrod/streetrod/bobber scene for a long time. Gentle mix of the two. Also had the idea of some sweet hood tie downs. Currently my hood doesn't like to close. I was originally thinking those hairpin clip style ones. Then i got a different idea. Won't say it yet, but you'll see soon!

Those are some big tires.
Do you think your gearing can handle them?
Just curious.

Haha well thats a good question! I'm probably going to buy a set of gears, but i may also not... I have the option of going dana 44 straight axles. They are from a chev. My lift to fit these on the ifs is just a cheapo lift. Then an sas is in order. I would love to spend more on an ifs lift just to be a little more sturdy but i'm hopefully not keeping it long. The tires were originally 35s but id say are worn down to a little under 34, they had some thick tread on em originally. It shouldnt be too bad! I've seen worse. However when the sas is done, the 44's will get the correct gearing.

Got my rear speakers in. Still have to wire them up, which should be done tomorrow! I just fit them behind the side panel.

Then i took the metal mesh pieces out of the chevy door panel. Looks like crap because the vinyl and sawdust board were brittle as hell. Oh well

I had no cup holders. So i did this... Cups to hold cups. I'll paint them black so they don't look ridiculous.

I may have gone over this before but i found a good material for a flag pole. Nylon chimney sweeper rods. They work perfect and have the right amount of bend. My only issue was finding a way to mount it. I found these in a box of stuff. They had a spring and bolt going through, called "Barrel bolts" The metal end to the chimney rod slid perfectly in this one. once pushed down far enough it would bind and stick so it wouldn't come out of the top. The bottoms are capped off so it can't slid down through. But i wanted something to stop it from flayling around a bit. So i added a wire clamp to the mount that when pressed in the mount wouldn't come out. With a standard screwdriver you tighten it up and its good to go!

I plan to make some sort of hook on the interior to hold the flag and pole when not in use. However you could run a removable flag and leave the pole up as well. (I covered the pole in electrical tape because it looks more finished and resembles a CB whip)

I have a bit of a dilema trying to get brakes back to the truck. I am not sure of whether my master cylinder is any good... It came off the truck when i got it here. I can push on the piston and it squirts oil. My other issue is finding some new fittings! I've got the lines on there still but they have no fittings which ill have to add. But i don't know the sizes! Anyone got em?

I found my paint colour code yesterday so i should have some paint here soon to fix some areas. Tomorrow ill be pulling off the old tire carrier, well whats left of it. Sure it's not a necessary thing to do but, it's there and i have no need for it. Still have to get that trailer hitch off as well. Freakin rusty bolts!

Heh cup holders made me think of "trailer park boys", leave em clear put a couple novelty "fly in icecube" in and a little bit of epoxy to simulate whisky to complete the effect

Think i'd of gone with the modified chevy map pocket speaker covers even if they interfered with the seats folding over that. Recovering those panels is really easy hit the local craft store, 3m contact adhesive and material of your choice, and they'll look brand new again (sans' fancy molded lines).

Not sure on your 4runner, but in the 90's era trucks the paint code is also inside the D-side tail light. Incase someone paints over your ID placards.
