Ok I have an 88 base model pickup has California emissions.efi 4x4 22re motor. The problem is my charge & brake lights are on in dashtrucl exhaust is un burnt smelling fuel. Truck whount move give it gas bougs out cant move. It started otherday the 2lights go out truck will run did tuneup steps no change help only truck cant get to work

charge and brake is the alternator.

Spits & sputers

When I give it gas it whants to die raw fuel coming out the exaust. Ran the codes got a (24&31) haven't figured that yet

There is a very good search feature on this forum. give it a shot. I don't personally know what the codes are, but the search bar will tell you almost everything you need to know.

24 and 31 are both related to the VAF (24 is the intake air temp sensor, 31 is an open/short in the vane sensor). Most likely, the plug to the VAF is disconnected/damaged.

My books don't show one or mention one. What and where is that located? And any idea what the 3rd vsv on valve cover is for. My books only show 2 ? Thanks again for the help
