Intro and my '86 Runner
Hey guys, I've been lurking and learning for at least a year now, so I figured it was time to at least post a quick intro and a couple of pics.
This is my '86 4runner that I bought from the original owner about 3 years ago. It needed a little love at the time. I had the windows tinted (mandatory here in Houston), picked up some factory alloys from craigslist, added the BFG A/Ts, and had a little upholstery work done on the front seats. I've had to do some normal maintenance work (brakes, clutch, u-joints, plugs, distributor, cold idle air valve, A/C idle valve, TPS setting, very minor rust repair on the rear fender lips, etc.), some of which yotatech and the search engine has helped me through (thanks!). Just recently I broke down and had the engine rebuilt (added some goodies from LCE at the time). Thought about doing it myself, but just don't have the time and/or room right now. I also recently got after it with the buffer and polishing compound--that's what prompted the pics. Upcoming projects include replacing the leaking steering gear box (trying the stop leak trick first) and lower ball joints. I'd also like to find a reasonably priced rear bumper that either has a 2" receiver or lets me keep the hitch. No luck yet.
Don't really do any wheeling (yet, anyway). It's pretty much a mountain bike hauler, beach machine, and rainy day driver.
That's about it. Thanks again yotatech for all the great technical info.

Nice truck.
On the pictures try putting each one of them on a different line.
Instead of...
[IMG][/IMG][IMG][/IMG]
Try...
[IMG][/IMG]
[IMG][/IMG]
That way we wont have to scroll to the side. Cuz were lazy.
And why is window tint mandatory?
And how about some pictures of that interior?

Thanks for all the positive comments.
About the pictures... Hmmm... They show up in a vertical column for me, but I'll make sure to put in breaks next time. Maybe I'll go back and edit this one and see if it helps.
Window tint is pretty much mandatory in Houston since we have summer 9 months out of the year. Without it the poor AC doesn't stand a chance (especially in an old, high internal volume vehicle like the runner).
