No matter what anyone says once people decide something is bad it is getting replaced no matter if there is nothing wrong.

I hope in the OP`s case it fixes the issue

If you're interested let me know the specs on your truck

The switch was NOT the problem. I got the truck to run though. After pulling and prodding between the EFI relay and the ign. fuse i realized the engine fuse was not getting 12v, and the battery low charge warning light was not coming on with the key tuned to on. I found that the blk and ylw wire to the EFI relay was not getting 12v. I jumped that relay straight to the ign. Fuse and kazam.. truck runs. Now I just need to figure out exactly what is shorted out.
any suggestions? It looks like from the ign. Fuse to the EFI is a straight shot, so i dont know what to do now.

I have not been able to pin point the issue, but the truck did start up again after I poked around the COR again. nothing conclusive, but one thing kinda sticks out in my mind. The truck was having much more trouble starting after it had been sitting in the sun all day. Early in the morning and when in the shade it had no trouble starting (with the really stupid looking and not entirely functional jumper from the battery to the EFI relay no1 pin). The truck will start, but it will keep running even with the key in the off position. So, I'm bypassing the circuit that is bad with the 12v from the battery straight to the COR-VAFM. I just need to find some time to really follow this black and yellow wire from the EFI relay.

So, this gets even weirder,
I followed the blk/ylw wire from the no.1 pin on the EFI relay. I lost sight of it where it should go into the back of the fuse junction box on the drivers side. I checked out the wiring diagram that is for a 91 Toyota (even though mine was built 12/91) and the next thing in line is the generator fuse. I could not find a fuse marked GEN. I think it is built into the Alternator. I checked all the wiring at the Alt, and it was JACKED UP... that's where the electrical fire was years ago with the previous owner. The rewiring they did was a hack job albeit not much better than I could do. I cut out all the burned out bits just to make sure that was not the problem. Once I got it all back together it still would not fire up. I then tried jumping some stuff around in the fuse junction box while the key was in "on", and I heard a relay click. I looked up at my dash indication lights, and all the lights were working. Charge warning, engine light, etc. Even with the jumper not connected! Then she fired right up, and drove fine. When I turned it back on she fired up again! I thought "well that's that I hope". I hoped too soon. This morning when I tried to start it there was nothing, just the seatbelt warning light. I touched IGN. fuse to the Wiper fuse I think, and the same click of I'm thinking either the COR or the EFI relay and she started. I don't know what could cause this. If you haven't completely lost interest in my plight I could still use some ushering. Thanks for all the help so far, I feel like I'm almost there.
I am going to go poke around at it now. what a mess
fixed for now..

My suggestion would be to find the same truck as yours in a wrecking yard and get the wiring harness. It seems like you are burning a lot of clock messing with a burnt and hacked harness.
My 2 cents - no change needed

FWIW, I got curious and checked http://car-part.com/index.htm and looked up your harness. There are a lot of them just for a '92 and just in the west. Prices started at $75.00 for a yard I've bought from before.

Well, I have narrowed the problem down to the fuse junction box in the cabin. I don't know exactly what is wrong, but the Engine fuse is very touchy. The Box has been damaged, so I'll chalk it up to bad connections. As for what wolves suggested, I'll try to hunt down an intact fuse box. No need to re-harness the whole truck if I can show that the connections to the fuse box, or the box its self is to blame.
