Hi All, Xoloski (Sho-Lo-Ski) here from rust-free southeast AZ with my '78 Toyota 4X4 pickup with IDF.
Background: I took the pickup on trade. Truck had many oil leaks and was overall funky. Had a knife stab in the front hood and all vacuum lines were trash.
I went through everything in the engine compartment, new seals, hoses, timing components, All is good under the hood. I had the bodywork completed by a (professional) friend that owed me a paint job. I went with the then "new" Toyota Quicksand tan. The truck has been sitting for a couple years while Life has consumed me. I finished rebuilding some other projects '78 D100, '89 Volvo 240, Freightliner Cummins 8.3, and a few not worth mention. Anyhow, I am now (after a '93 Suzuki Sidekick fix) ready to reassemble the fine '87 Toyota Pickup. To which I will: replace the front IFS axle boots, reattach front bull bumper, rear tube bumper, side rock skid bars, grill, lights, etc.
Now finally, after all this yammering, my question:
The front door interior panels were removed and replaced with sheet metal panels, and a poor job they did. I have seen front panels for lots of money and would prefer to build my own. Does anybody have a set of door panel patterns / templates that they are willing to share?
Also open to any and all suggestions regarding this topic.
Thx!
Also just picked up a '85 Toyota Pickup w/ transmission, wrecked body but intact wiring, intact driveline, frame and axles. I am considered either converting the '87 pickup IFS to straight axle, or placing the axles under one of my 3 Suzuki Samurai.
In the body shop, pulling rear panel dents...with sheet metal door panel in the bed. At home awaiting reassemble New door hinge bushings being installed

I would say watch craigslist and marketplace for someone selling a decent set and don’t worry what color as the vinyl dyes work great.
I did see somebody on ebay selling new ones, but they didn’t look like OEM
Found a used set of panels in Tucson or Phoenix for $350.
I consider that excessive and after watching a couple build your own You-Tube video's, it doesn't look that hard to do, just thought templates would make it easier yet..

Agree, that’s a lot for used and you can find new on ebay for that much or build some much cheaper.
Do you have the full coverage padded top (See top pic) or just the flat insert that has exposed door sheet metal across the top and bottom. If you have the later (See bottom pic), then it should be easy to cut a panel out of hardboard or thin wood sheets to fit, then cover it with any material you want.
