Interchageable Front End Parts

Hello Friends,

I am an original owner of an 1987 long bed, extra cab pickup. My front bumper, brackets and foil have been mangled and need to be replaced. Before going to the junkyards could someone tell me what other years would have interchangeable parts with my '87? Thanks so much for your expertise.

Welcome to Yotatech!

Any 1984-1988 pickup bumper should fit. Is your truck 2wd or 4wd? 2wd and 4wd trucks have different grills and bumpers (different styling) but should still fit if you need it too.

I'm sure if you keep searching on this forum you'll find the answer. From what I've read you can use the grill from a 2wd or 4wd.
The big differences are the 4wd front fenders have a longer wheel opening to allow for a bigger tire. The bumper on the 4wd is also wider and should be used with the 4wd lower valance for everything to bolt up correctly.

You should also be able to find body answer here because these guys mix and match front end parts quite a bit. http://www.toyotaminis.com/forum/

don't forget 4runners match pickups in that time span as well, though there appears to be differances in the fenders, core supports, lights and hoods however the parts bumpers are the same however some bumpers have different sized openings for turn signials, but in most cases all parts can be transplanted from on truck to another, its just not easy to mix and match some pices unless they are all from the same production run............ just goto the junk yard and get what you need its really not that hard, i just repaired an 86 runner that rear ended a minivan was easy as cake, just had to change the front coresupport, hood fender, bumper, radiator fan, waterpump etc.......got the parts from half a dozen trucks/runners ageing upto '89
