Well I am paying for my college, but I am also getting financial aid and loans and scholarships. Im just looking for things to do on the cheap, to further enhance the capability and ride. I think I am going to lower the T-bars and remove the blocks on the back and just drive it around like that, I bet it would look pretty good too, the wheel wells would be filled out more!! I already have a custom cat-back exhaust on my truck, its used to have a tip, but it broke off one day off-road and I just got it cut off and a turndown welded on! Kind of sounds like a dirtbike, but at low RPMs it sounds really deep. I wouldnt run synthetics right now anyways, because the engine burns oil, and a rebuild is in order in the near future, but as I said before, I am going to do the work myself, after i graduate! Thanks for the help guys, if you think of anything else, just let me know!

I don't recall if a 22re even had all that ISR crud...
you could switch the black plastic for a lighter thinner metal pipe or just wrap the pipe in some of that silver backed bubble pad insulation wrap to reduce the intake air temp... [would look awfully ghetto though]

As most are aware the rear back-up lights on the 2nd Generation 4Runners don't provide that much light, especially if your vehicle is lifted. This is true on trucks as well. So I thought I would add a little extra light by inserting some white LED lights into the rear bumper. I didn't want to mount lights below the bumper because experience has shown me they usually get broken or twisted. Now granted, these don't provide the amount of light an off-road or KC light would, but they give off a cleaner and brighter light than the ones that are higher in the tailgate or bed. They are also aimed down just a little because of the angle of the bumper. The lights were about $30 a piece, in the grand scheme of things an inexpensive upgrade.

Here are some night pics. Much more light on the ground behind the rig.

Nope.

edit: To add a bit more info (no offence blu I'm too lazy to quote you and start a new post tonight) the 22re does'nt have an ISR... you can replace the stock black plastic cross over pipe with a polished metal one or relocate the intake to the pax side and the batt. to the driver side which would shorten the intake run and make it cooler since you are'nt running behind the hot rad any more. There are threads here on this mod try searching for airbox relocation 22re or something like that. Aviator

Not a power mod or anything but I got 4 rolls of toolbox liner and a can of HD spray adhesive and pulled all the interior out except dash and lined all of the bare metal except the 2 air holes in back and surrounding the clip holes on the panels. Made a huge difference in in cab quietness and my system sounds way better. 90 ext sr5

Thumbs up

Fake car alarm for under $4.

Get a 5v blinking led and a 1K ohm resistor from Radio Shack.

Solder wire to the two terminals on the led, and solder the resistor in line on either of the wires.

Connect the wire on the + side of the led to 12v constant.
Connect the wire on the - side of the led to 12v switched.

When you turn the car on, both wires are + and cancel each other out, hence no blinking light.

When you turn the car off, the 12v switched reverts to ground, completes the circuit, and your led blinks.

Drill a small hole in the small accessory panel of the dash for an led holder to finish it off professionally if you like.
