I'm in the U.S and Desperately Want an 89-95 Double Cab 4x4
I have an 89 X cab and it is the best truck I have ever owned. There is only one thing that could ever make me part with it....the aquisition of a double cab. I dont even know where to start. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance guys.

dont we all.... might as well get a diesel while your at it. the only way your gonna get a double cab in those years is to cut the back off of a 4runner...

It is possible to get one over here, it will cost you a pretty penny though. As far as I know, it's an importing and registration nightmare.
Here's one that was for sale here in California last year. If your patient and search the entire US, maybe you'll find another one.
Another challenge is to find one with a left hand drive.

thats what i was afraid of. when i found out that they were available in that body style i fell in love. i was hoping to discover someone already had one here and would sell it. i actually want it to be right hand drive, i think it would be cool.

I hope you have some $$$$$$. I think your best bet might be if you can find just a cab with the vin/matching title and make it fit an older frame and retrofit a bed to it. I've seen people do this numerous times (on the internet, in real life my friends have just bought double cab Tacos lol)
I wish you luck in your search, that would be ONE SWEET RIDE TO HAVE.

It is odd that the terrorists and tribal war lords of the world all have access to the older double cabs but we got left out of that distribution here in the states. Lol.

its because the US is stingy as hell on imports. Lots of taxes and crap with custom for every little detail of a vehicle. I'm sure Toyota didnt feel the market here was profitable for those style trucks. We're snobby pavement pounders here in North America, so the market for a dirt road appropriate vehicle is much much smaller...
That used to be the reason, now its that and the fact none of Toyotas modern 70 series LC line would ever pass our isanely strict emissions and safety testing in the US of A.
The rest of the real world not living in a narrow minded bubble on wheels over pavement gets the cool rigs!
