I'm curious... 22re HP/Torque question...

In the midst of my rebuild, and I've been gathering all these parts, OEM and aftermarket upgraded, and it got me thinking; just what kind of REAL numbers is this motor going to be close to once all put together?

But I guess to figure that out, I'd have to know the stock HP and torque for a 91 modle 22re with federal emmisions there's so many claims on the net that I've found, from 89 HP to 112 HP, lol, I'm not sure what's right! Anyone have a RELIABLE source of this info?

So here's all the specs on the motor in progress:

*block .03 over
*OEM style new pistons
*stock rods
*stock crank
*engnbldr Street RV head (NEW casted head with oversized valves and stiffer valve springs)
*engnbldr 261 Torkr camshaft
*Pacesetter header
*Pacesetter cat-back system
*K&N filter in the stock box
*LCE intake piping (just replaces the OEM plastic and rubber ended intake tube assymbely)
*ALL emmision stuff removed (cat, EGR, air injection)
*E3 Plugs (they're worth a shot, after hearing all the hype about them)

I just don't know what to factor in percentage wise for each modifcation I was thinking the exhaust and header alone would only be maybe 5% increase, and then I read somewhere else that it's more like a 15% increase over base! I'm not sure what to expect, lol

Any thoughts or input on this guys?

IDK man. I sure hope you're right about the header increase. The 22r I'm getting in an 86 has headers exhaust and engnbldr cam. I can't wait to see the 4banger have a handful more power than the 3L. lol

lol, well that's just what I read... and it even mentioned it being the SAME header I have... but damn if I can't find the site again

I personally can hardly see 15% out of a header, but who knows... maybe the stocker really is just THAT restrictive, lol

IDK about the 22Rs, but I know it is on the 3.0. Just getting it to breathe does so much for that motor, but that was it's major flaw. I'm not sure if the I4s are the same..

The only way to tell is to put it on an engine dyno... the headers may flow 15% better than stock but that doesn't necessarily translate into 15% horsepower gain.

Also keep in mind that exhaust modifications will shift your torque curve, so you may gain 20hp at 4,000rpm and lose 5hp at 1,500rpm.

trav, PM me ALL the specs you have including cam specs, head specs and whatnot...
i have a dyno program that can guestimate the hp and torque numbers and if i can get everything then i can run it for you...

dunno if there are any differences in stock numbers depending on what vehicle they came in, but im sure it should be close...

Hey maybe I can do the same as I am doing a full rebuild as well and very close to his but I am using

.20 over pistons , rods getting penned and balanced
the engine builder master kit
brand new crank and all bearings
L.C. Engineering pro street head 45.5in 37.5 ext valves
and cam 285in 290ext. with the header
Witch Hunter clean/rebuild & balanced injectors
new oil & water pumps

then we can see what if any difference the engn bldr vs the over priced LCE head and cam are I am told mine should get between 140 150 hp but that's L.C.E. speaking

im serious guys, i need FULL specs...

there isnt a motor in here for the 2.4L, so im using the 2.2L as a base (its close enough) and adjusting the bore and stroke appropriately...

but i need,

*Compression ratio
(or just give me head chamber volume, head gasket bore, head gasket thickness, and the piston down bore @ top dead center)
*Induction flow rate... (CFM's)
*Manifold type (individual runner type, tuned port or sequential port)
*type of exhaust (stock manifolds and muffler, high performance manifold and mufler, or header and HP muffler)
*cam
(intake lift, echaust lift)
*Primary timing (IVO, IVC, EVO, & EVC)
*any cam advancement?

an idea of what im working with...
everything in blue can be changed, so get me all the specs!!!

I think it depends on the year. like '84-'87 is 112hp and '88-'95 is 116 I think.

I have a pacesetter header on mine and i noticed some good torque gain compared to stock. I know that putting on a better intake should let it open up a little more.
