Ignition switches on different years interchangeable???

Ignition switches on different years interchangeable???
I have a 1987 toyota mini I'm building, but the ignition switch key is different than the doors. I would like to have them all the same. I have an 84 with a switch that matches the locks. Would you recommend swapping the ignition switches if possible? The 84 also has the original key where the 87 has a big goofy repro key.

Car-Part.com says 84-88 PU & 84-89 4Runner ignition switches are interchangeable. So if that's what you want to do, then go right ahead.
