Ignition switch dilema

I need some serious help!!!!!!!!!!!! The ignition switch will not engage when the key is in. The steering wheel is in the locked position. WTF. Is my switch bad? I'm still getting that annoying buzzing from the door being open so I'm assuming it's not the electrical part of the switch. What to do??

Try turnig the steering wheel while you turn the key! Sometimes the wheel will lock in a odd position and the wheel will bind on the lock cylinder and will no allow the key to turn. Also some vehicles you have to push in the brake to release the lock cylinder while you turn the key.

That's exactly what I did first because in the past it would work. Not this time. NO matter how hard you turn the wheel the ignition cylinder will not release. Also of note is that the Toy is parked on a slight incline facing forward. The brake release does not work as well. My truck does not have that feature. Let's hear some more ideas.............

Are you referring to a standard tranny? If so, my Toy is a manual. Would this still apply?

ya, your lock cylinder got jamed. Happend to another guy that was out wheeling last fall. Right as he went to start the truck a buy bumped his tire and that like ramed the locking mechnism or something. Then ended up pulling the inginiton out and useing a screwdriver to get home

So anyway between the time I first posted and now I called AAA. They sent out a locksmith who cut 2 new keys and that was that. It was my original key that was worn down to the point of not working within the ignition and the spare (non-Toyota brand) also not functioning. Who would have thought it was as simple as that. Thanks to all for their input.
