---ignition. key--- button lock bypass ---(how to)

i absolutely hate
the button we have to press to release our ignition keys.
how can i by pass that annoying, depressing, time consuming, finger straining waste of a feature.
and a side question=- what was the original purpose of that button/lock.

glue it down with some epoxy. works great, and is reverseable if you want to sell the truck.
take the column cover off and glue it from underneath and you'll never see the repair.
and i have absolutely no idea what those things were for, i've wondered myself. interested to see what others have to say.

2 ways so far,
im going to look for the metal clip/retainer while its torn down. and if that seems like too much work, i will try the glue finale.
thanks.
but, does anyone know WHY that feature was implemented ?
