Ignition Cylinder

Someone (aka - Tweeker) broke into my wife's Runner last night and screwed with not only the driver lock to get in but the ignition. It turns to start but will not engage. I'm purchasing a new cylinder vrom AutoZone tomorrow. Is there a write-up on replacing the cylinder? I searched but did not find. Any help would be appreciated.

there is a brass pin in the cyl .

to remove the cyl , you have to first remove the plastic covers .

put the key in , if you can ... and turn to "accessory" . Look on the top for a hole . with a hair pin or paperclip (what ever) put it into the hole and push the brass bin down to release the cyl . and pull it out .

If you can turn the key to "accessory" just take a small punch , put it into the hole , and give er' a wack ... you'll have to "smash" the brass pin ... and pull out the cyl ... easy .

hope that helps .
