IFS rebuild

I am considering replacing all my steering components on my 1992 pickup as i currently need two ball joints and i thought while i was under there i should replace all the original components with oem. Now my problem is that when i contacted autozone they refuse to sell me this idler arm "FA5040" and say that it won't fit my 1992 pickup the only arm that they say will fit is FA1739. Will sdori bushing work in the FA1739? from the research i've done FA5040 is the correct idler arm for my truck...

I would go to Oreilly and buy MOOG brand parts. Much better quality and they all have Grease Zerks.

That idler arm FA5040 will definitely work with my pickup? I would like to be able to grease my steering components but was told the sealed toyota parts were still better quality then any of the aftermarket ones, if this is not the case i would gladly save some $ and get the moog grease able parts.

This is a current thread and should answer all of your questions about the different idler arms and the FA1739. I just went through this exercise...

https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f116...shings-223846/

Its great info about the bushings at the top, but around comment #19 is the idler arm info. To know what idler arms are out there, click on the 4crawler link that has "idlerarm" in it.

FA1739 has the same shaft diameter as the FA5040 and does NOT have the "555" stamped on the arm which then is not he weaker 2WD arm. From everythign I can tell its the same as the FA5040. I had autozone look up FA5040 and they said it was now special order for like $112

Hope this helps.
