I don't really have build thread going over here. I know I should, but I really didn't do much to it after the first 3 or 4 years - then all of a sudden the past 2 years I've gone nuts!

I have a mini "build-up/history of" over here:

http://offroadpassport.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2165

That one is as up to date as last weekend - including pics from when I had it on an RTI:

This is what flex looks like with the OME 26mm torsion bars cranked!

The second picture is a bit blurry, but you get the idea.

The pictures were taken on the trail to Upper Hut Lake. I didn't end up making it there.....the locker doesn't really help when the 45 degree rocks are soaked.

So not much flex up front at all uh? It would probably perform better if they were'nt cranked. And as far as lockers go, they always help.

Ya for sure.

I have a solid axle waiting in my garage......so hopefully I wont have to deal with the stiff ride for to much longer, it's only been like 2 years. lol

I don't know what your expectations are for the solid axle, but a smooth ride shouldn't be one of them.

Easy you guys.. It might be smoother then cranked t-bars. Especially if he goes with a good spring setup. If I air my ballon tires down to 8psi I can hit huge pot holes on gravels roads at 50mph and not even feel them. But no handling and smoothness are not general characteristics of a solid axle. But flex is. Id say uncrank those t-bars.

And this is without even trying and it actually moves a little.

I agree. Solid axles are good for flex and durability. You will sacrifice some comfort to get that, but depending on what you want to use your truck for will determine what spring/shock setup you need to go with and that is what determines your comfort. If you get the right spring and shock combination it can rival an average IFS.

than why is everyone so quick to say rough ride with Solid Axle. when your rock crawling your going slow so there isnt much rough ride to complain about. i think some of you guys are still going to fast when off roading. time to regear and dual case your rigs

Obviously some people on here don't know the ride differences between some IFS setups and solid axle setups........

I've been in trucks with a solid axle and if you compared them with my truck, it's like riding on a ˟˟˟˟ing cloud. Cranked T-bars are a terrible ride, but it was my only option for lift at the time I did it. So thanks for those with the smart ass remarks, if I wanted those smart ass remarks I'd go to Pirate.

If you want to compare cranked T bars and linked SAs then yes the IFS is going to be rougher. But like Richard said a linked SA costs money where cranking T bars is free. The only way to compare them apples to apples is how they come stock, in which case IFS gives a way smoother ride.

Both can be upgraded and changed however you want with nearly endless possibilities.
