IFS brake upgrade
The brakes on my 87 4x4 pickup are less than ideal, and I was looking for ways to increase my stopping power. So I picked a dual diaphram brake booster and a 1in Master cyclinder off a 91 4runner today. I was wondering if it would be ok for me to install the parts with the current 4cyl calipers and rotors, and the factory rear drums?
I have tried searching for my answer, but everyone seems to upgrade to v6 calipers and rotors at the same time.
When I have the cash I plan on buying some rebuilt v6 calipers and new vented rotors. Next in line would be a manual proportioning valve and a rear disk conversion. Along with an All Pro transfer case parking brake.

I have an 86 and I'm looking into upgrading brakes as well.
The brake booster and master cylinder will work fine with your 4cyl calipers and the drums in the back. All they do is push more fluid.
If you go to rear discs and V6 calipers up front then its highly recommended to upgrade the master cylinder, but the other way around doesn't matter.
