does that mean its shot? I can't seem to adjust my TPS on my 86. I adjusted my 91 just fine, but on my 86 I can't get any accurate readings.

Yup, it is shot.

If you cannot get all of the resistance measurements in spec as per the FSM, you need a new one.

When I bought my Runner it would not pass smog, the tech said to check the TPS. I could not get it to fall within the resitance ranges for each of the four measurements in the FSM. I could get 3 of them, but if I adjusted the fourth, one or more of the other three would be out. Picked up a new one at the dealer, no issues, it adjusted in just fine, reset the timing and then it passed smog.

I'm going to be adjusting my tps this weekend. It my first time doing it.....when looking at the tps is the E2 at the bottom or the top. On 4crawler the diagram it doesn't say for sure what it is. And the feeler gauges go between the the idle stop screw, correct? Just want to make sure I'm doing everything right

The FSM link will show you the exact labeling of the terminals. I cannot remember off the top of my head. I'm sure if you search someone will have posted that.

Yes, the feeler goes between the idle stop screw and the throttle linkage. I have a feeler gage set from Sears that has very short, tubby gages that are only 1/4" wide. They work perfect for doing this. The longer gages are a bit of a pain to fit in there.
