I have a 1990 22re pick up with 95000 miles on it. The problemo is when i am driving and press the clutch in it idles high, if i tap the gas it will usually return to the right idle. I don't have a tach so i don't know for sure but im guessing if its supposed to idle around 800rpm it would be idling at 1300rpm. I cleaned the throttle body the other day with no results and checked to see if the cable was hanging up on anything. The cable moved freely with no obvious problems. I am just wondering if anyone has had any problems similar to mine so i can be looking in the right places when i dive into it.

Try pulling the codes, it could be your mass air flow or you tps.

 

Check the Throttle Position Sensor. (Retrieving codes is a good suggestion!)
