Idle hunts - warmed up with brake only

22RE, 5Speed, 1991 4Runner - When it's warmed up the idle bounces between 1000 and 1700, only when the brake pedal is depressed (I should give it some wellbutrin or vitamin E maybe ). Bounce cycle between low and high dips is approximately 2 seconds. When the brake is released the idle jumps up to 2000, a little too high. The idle runs the same high when the vehicle is cold but now to think of it... i haven't checked to see if it kicks down after warm up when idling in neutral/ no brake.

Something to note is that recently my air conditioner belt failed and I didn't bother to replace it. The belt only ran the air conditioner and I've never used it (Canada, lol). Posted that on here too. Not sure any reason why that would be related ? wild guesses ?

I've been a weekend warrior for a while but still a little stoopid when it comes to these things.

The bouncing idle with the brake on is caused by your warm idle setting being too high.

Have had that occur on mine. Just adjust the idle down to the recomended rpm.
