Howdy all,

I'd like to replace my shifter bushings. But I don't know what type of transmission I have. (maybe it doesn't matter).

When you run my VIN, reports say I have an automatic transmission.

I don't.

I know the previous owner rebuilt/put in a newer engine, and I think they must have also added the transmission.


I began to search for replacement parts for the bushings (was thinking of marlincrawler's heavy duty ones) but they list different parts for different years and different series (L,G,W, R, RA).

So, any quick way to id the transmission?

The VIN plate will tell you what transmission was originally in the truck. If it was replaced, your best bet is to find pictures of different transmissions on the internet, and see which one looks like yours. If anything is left of your shift seat bushing, you can take it out and measure it.
