i think i toasted my alternator

so last night i went through a little bit of mud, not even that bad just enough totry out my tires. well this mornig the battery light and e brake lights stay on when i drove my wife to work. im pretty sure i toasted my alternator any thoughts?

where can i get a high output alternator for her, its a 22re?

i would say test it first. might have got some wires wet and shorted out and blew a fuse/VR

the ebrake light is prolly due to not enough brake fluid in the master cylinder. I would check that first. Also how new is you battery? Check everything first before you just start throwing parts at it.

You DO know that when the Alternator and Brake light come on at the same time, there is a charging issue right?

Doesn't always mean alternator, but it means that somewhere in the system there is a problem. If it was the brakes, just the brake light would come on.

cool thanks for the info im sure there was a charging issue i had a bad connection at the alternator

i would take it apart and try and clean it all out first, possibly replace the brushes, its not very hard and they are cheap. this has solved my problems more than once with my alternator.
