I painted it.

I had the ugliest colored 4runner ever and always wanted the tan color. I know the tan didn't come with IFS but I prefer tan and IFS. Here are some before and afters.

Mine WAS the same color, but the PO was a hick and roll on painted it. I was thinking about going the same color tan you went. What paint brand and color was it? Did you prime and clear coat or no?

Looks good. The 2 Toyota colors that I like are the tan, and the burnt burgandy/maroon from the mid '80's, My 1st Toyota was a maroon '84.

Hey, thanks for the compliments. I don't hate all blue, just the electric carolina blue. I hate UNC!!!! Anyways, as far as the details, I wasn't going for showroom paintjob obviously. I sanded her down, did some rust removal and some body filling in the usual areas. The only places I primed was where I sanded down to the metal, had exposed body filler, and along the high ridgelines where I probably sanded most of the paint away. I figured the factory toyota primer will last many years longer than my paint. The paint I bought was acrylic urethane single stage. PPG brand maybe? It sprayed on like a charm. Wait time was about 10 minutes between coats. I got good coverage out of 2 coats but went ahead and put a third on anyways. I got a decent amount of overspray that I haven't buffed out yet. Not even sure I am going to. Still got half gallon left if I ever need to repaint. The top used to be whiteish blueish but I painted it with duplicolor bedliner. So far I am happy with it. I did not paint inside the door jambs and so far have not regretted it. That would have doubled the work for the project. By the way, I am rockin 31X10.5 ATs on Toyota Turbines. Soon to be black steelies.
