So '75-'78 seems more like 1st gen pick-ups when you get right down to it, but 2nd gen Hilux in other markets.

Eh?
They're called a hilux, they just aren't badged as a hilux. IIRC, people stopped saying hilux in the US because it was just easier to say pickup.
I.e. Chevy Pickup, Ford Pickup, Toyota Pickup...
Doesn't matter what you call it, it's still a hilux.

you can reach "high speeds" in your truck?

you must have a v8 or a turbo or something

seriously guys stay on topic! but first let me explain. in the off road world: 79 was the first 4x4 toyota pickup sold in america, thus a first gen, if you wanna get really technical a first gen would be the toyota stout, made in the 50's second gens would be 2wd pickups 1968 to 1972, and third gens would be years 72 to 78. but in our instance 89-95 is a third gen. and thats that.

stock as possible On with the *&^%ing pictures. Kinzer, what's the story with your grill? Did you make it?
yes i built the grill, i cut out the plastic piece and shaped and rivited 3/8's expanded metal then gloss blacked the whole grill and light trim.

TOYOTA 1 he could have called them sas'd best gen's

here are some older pics.
i concur

we actually already built a first gen with a bed modeled after his. personally its also my favorite.

ya it sounded amazing. well.... saturday i was bored and decided to play on a big rock pile in the field behind my house, iv gone through it a bunch of times but i took a wrong line, got the front left tire wedged between 2 rocks while teetering. the front left started to bind and i could see the truck lifting but no tire movement but before i could react it just popped! i also couldnt tell it was binding cause i was in double low first gear idling.

all in all im ordering 30 splines thursday

come on! i know theres more sas'd third gens out there

kinzer what's up with your passenger side u-bolts? Cut off the stock bracket? Looks like the inner is trying to slide down the axle tube.

Anyway here's some pics.
