I finally did it! (Pics)
Today I finally got my engine out of my 4runner. Now I have to take it to a shop to have it rebuilt. Let's see if I will be able to get it back in. Here are some pics. Like my motor winch truck?

Well, I wish I could swap in a 3.4 but I think it would be too much money and not enough know how. I will go with headers, probably Downey. Should I go with regular or ceramic? It looks like I will be taking the engine to a shop to be rebuilt. They have quoted me about 1200 and I figure when I am done it will be about 2000. By the way not only do I have the big crane truck but you can see my spiffy engine and part holders in the pics below. They are made of a space age rubber material in an ergonomic round shape. Can you tell in the next pic which spark plug was in cylinder #6?

dang hovering in the 2k range on repairs I'd be so close to going 3.4 of course the other issue is longer down time and all the technical issues.
I know I am dreading my engine going kaboom before I have a spare 3k laying around.

Ok so I guess y'all have convinced me to do the 3.4 swap. I took the motor to a shop yesterday to rebuild the 3.0. They gave me a quote of 1,800. I would also need probably about 700 bucks worth of extra parts and things. Today I found a 3.4 with 135,000 miles still in a truck, so I went and got my 3.0 back. The guy will sell me the 3.4 with intake, manifolds, starter, harness, all the air intake stuff, coil, and igniter. He will charge me 1,350 for all of this. I will have to get a computer since the donor is auto, compressor(maybe), power steering pump(maybe), flywheel, clutch, and a few other odds and ends I am sure. I am going to try to do the wiring harness stuff myself, if not I guess I can order one. So, if any of y'all have any good leads on this stuff at a good price let me know please. If I am overlooking anything else let me know also. Let me know if you know anyone who needs a 3.0 with 225,000 miles and a burnt exhaust valve on #6.
Thanks,
Robert
