I Am A Newb! With A Few Lift Q's
hello everyone i am new to this site and first off would like to say this place rules. and secondly I'm a proud owner of my first car a 1986 Toyota 4RUNNER.....................
NOW lets get started; i would really like to lift my truck but have no idea where to start. i found a web site that sells all of this for about 73$
Fits: 1986 to 1989 Toyota 4runner SR5
Brand: Skyjacker
Notes: Component Box; 4 in. Lift; Incl. 2.5 in. Wide Rear UBolt Kit; Rear Spring Bushing Kit; 4 Wheel Drive; With 2.5 in. Wide U-Bolts
I was wondering if this has all of the parts i need and if not then what else do i need
P.S. the address for all those parts is http://performance.drivewire.com/get...4|||Suspension
THANK YOU VERY MUCH

I might search a bit. There are lots of options. One thing that will help us help you is if you can tell us what type of wheeling you might be into.

A good place to start for advice is to know what your intensions are for your 4runner? 100% Street? DD/Trail? All Mud? 100% Trail? What size tires would you like to see under your truck?
I'm personally very happy with my 33x10.50 BFG ATs and stock suspension. I'm planning on putting some 4.88s and a rear locker in very shortly. I've learned the stock suspension can handle a good deal of abuse with certain pieces strengthened.
I'd say purchase some 33x10.50s, Sonoran Steel IFS Truss, Idle Arm Brace, and see how you like your setup. I'm sure you will want some gears and a rear locker very soon thereafter.

Sorry to tell you, but that $73 thing you were asking about is just a component kit...It would be completely useless on a non skyjacker lifted truck!! The $800 things are the lifts. I would go to search and type in "Cheap Lift" and it will give you some good info!

Actually I wouldnt even lift it, you would be surprised what your stock yota can do!! They are actually pretty capable...I would put some 33 10.50's on there and just wheel it like that, or you can put some lockers in it and do wayy much more than you could with a lift!!

Yeah, 33's on stock is prolly o.k., you should look at Super Swampers, any style is gonna be good, I'm lookin' into those Pitbull tires myself. Maybe you'll want new rims, I don't know there. Lockers run from about $200-$500ish, depending on the flavor.

33's will fit on your Runner. It might rub a little, but I doubt it.
Lockers are expensive, but if you put one on your stock rig, you can do a ton of wheeling.
Don't call your 4Runner a CAR!

Lifts range from a couple hundred to several thousand.
lockers run from several hundred to 800 ish, add 200 per pumpkin install. 200 more per pumpkin if you plan on regear at the same time.
Welcome.

save your money and get some donahoe coilovers with new upper a-arms...total chaos, donahoe, and several other offer nice ways to do it right...otherwise, leave it stock.

For the rear:
easy/cheap lift = blocks.
Good lift/requires welder =63" Chevy's
Best lift/ requires lots = 4link
For the front, depends if you want to just lift the IFS, if so:
easy/cheap = balljoint spacers
good lift = bracket lift
best lift = total chaos or go SAS
