i have a 1987 4 runner sr5 4wd..it makes a howling noise..and gets louder the higher the rpms get..it even makes the noise when im stop and rev it up..i have no clue what it is..please help? thanks

I've had a howling sound before, but it came from the back rather than front area. It would definitely howl as I was drove down the road. Remebering thinking to myself, "The SwampThing's never made a MEEEOOOWWWWWWWW sound before... Must be the axle bearings..."

Finally got to work, and noticed that my 4runner was still howling even after I shut it off. Thought that was really weird , so I got down under the truck and heard it coming from the spare tire. I jacked the tire down, and as soon as it came down about a foot, I had some giant furry beast full of razor sharp nails and wet dripping fangs spring straight for my eyes intent on my destruction. So I ducked and when I took a second look, I saw a kitten of not more than 4 months old streaking down the road throwing me the bird and calling me an a**hole.


Lol, but yeah, in YOUR case, I'd check the fan clutch.
