I pulled the plugs today and did a compression test while I was in there, I got 145-150psi on every cylinder. Now according to my Haynes manual I should be between 140psi and 170psi.. Now how bad is only being 145-150psi??? BTW this truck had the nastiest plugs I have ever seen, and boy does she like new plugs lol

 

Numbers indicate that your engine is wearing even and you should be good for another 50_100k miles. Were you expecting bad news from the compression check? What do you mean by nasty, oil covered?

 

Well I got my 4runner about a month ago so I had no idea what shape the motor was in.. I think whoever owned it before me just slacked on maintenance so now I'm playing catch up on everything. The plugs were filthy covered in ash deposits they looked exactly like the picture on the last page of a Haynes manual. Air filter was trashed as well. Runs way better since I replaced vacuum lines and hooked them all up correctly, changed plugs, plug wires, air filter, seafoamed, still needs oil chance and belts changed

 

Change the plugs 2 times a year.

I use the Denso K16TR-11 which are for a mid 90's 4Runner or something.

They are dual ground and less than $3 a pop.

Dont forget to use anti seize.
