cootees, you morphed your runner. kudos to you, man.
my old 1990 p/u was 4x4, 5spd 22re standard bed/cab, red in color. holes, i mean BIG chunks were missing from around the fenders (all 4 fenders) from rust, and the entire undercarraige was rusted out. it had 205000 miles when i bought it for $1100 cash, and i put 3000 glorious miles on it. i "sold" it to my mother, who has always "wanted a little 5 speed truck" that was "dependable". i say to that: after 208000 faithful miles, i let it sit for 5 months straight in texas while i went through navy boot camp and school. i came back on leave after this 5 months, hoping that my truck wouldn't let me down, and it sure as hell didn't. climbed in the drivers seat, clutched it, keyed it, turned it and prayed, and that truck turned over 5 times, then rose from the grave. i am convinced that my old 1990 p/u will never die. EVER. i love that truck.
my other truck is a 1998 taco, 4x4, 5spd 3rz (2.7l) standard bed/cab, dark green in color with 65000 miles, excellent condition inside and out, mechanically great (except for that damn smushed shifter socket causing a grind), bought for $7000. i am falling in love with this truck, too.
you just cant keep them down.

I bought my 4runner back in 2000 with 60K miles on it....and I KNOW I paid way too much. But the g/f (now ex) had to have it. Sure wish she took it with her, along with the payments, before the HG blew. Oh well...
4runner, 1995
3.0POS, Auto
Every option but leather and locking diffs, stock 4.88 gears.
Paid: $17,800

LOCKnGO, not sure how you can tell the frame is flexing from that pic. I did do a rear leaf swap... so maybe the way the rear end looks it gives the impression?
I haven't really tried to open the doors when I get twisted like that, but I'll have to try next time. Not sure if it would be better to try and get out the low side or high side.

I paid $1000 for a pair of 88 pickups.
both run, with good solid bodies and frames.
I passed up another 88 not to long ago without an engine, for $300 and I shoulda drug it home for the parts.... next one I will.
never can have enough spare parts.
lol

Mine is a 1993 4x4, 5sp, 22RE regular cab. I paid $0 for it. It had a spun bearing and the guy that owned it, my mother-in-law's neighbor, kept getting overnight parking tickets because this was taking up one of his spots in his driveway so he gave it to me. That was in January of this year.
I have since rebuilt the motor and replaced the cat and tie rod ends. It already had a new clutch, brakes, exhaust (cat back), tires and battery. I'm into it for about $600. I still have some cosmetic things to make it nice but I'm still shopping around for parts and have some other projects to complete 1st so it's gonna have to wait for now.
Here is a photo of it when I got it. It's been cleaned up a bit since.
