carry a full 1-5 gallon gas tank with ya, and run the engine dry. I've done this with every car i've owned, so i know how far i can go.

Mines a 95 3.0 and the most I've ever put in was 17.210 and that was running it with the gas light on for 2 days or so. I think it came with 31's so I should have an 18 gallon tank but I'm not sure I'm thinking less.

strange you asked - 17.39

I was going to post this thread, but you already started it.

I thought the tank was 15.5 gal, but I just filled up today at Murphy - 17.39 gallons $47.81 later, I'm thinking they must have rigged the meter.

It seems like others say the tank is really 18 gallons. Sounds like that's more consistent with my anecdote.

FYI, I've got a 2000 limited.

I'm surpised no one has said it yet... Seinfield anyone??

Its confusing sometimes, cause when I put ~12-13gal in, it sits flush with the full line. Have never really filled it to the brim, so I always assumed it had a 13.5gal tank or so. Hah, guess you learn somethin new every day.

But yeah I've driven my truck to slightly below the empty line and the fuel light barely came on. Wasn't sure how much I was supposed to have left after the fuel light comes on, so I just pulled over and gassed up. But have always wanted to pull a seinfield...

hey man, I would love to see prices like that...
I would only be able to get about 13 gallons with that type of change...

When I was coming home from camping I forgot to fill up and didnt realize I had drove so much at the lake and had about 50 miles or so to go when my light came on, I really didnt think Id make it home but I rolled into the parking lot running fine. My tank normally only takes 16ish when I really run it dry but I had 31s stock so maybe I got a wrong gas tank installed on mine like I got the wrong gears from the factory.

I'm confused. I thought we had 15G tanks. On a full fill-up from an E light, the most I've ever gotten in was just a hair over 14G. Most times its around 13.6 or so gallons per tank.

How big then is the tank?

I've put roughly 17.300-17.350 in my '93 truck, no problem. I think it is a 17.3-17.5 gallon tank. Don't know yet about the Tacoma.

But don't do that to your fuel system, man.

Toyota owners, especially 22R/22R-E drivers, should be some of the most humble and patient people in the world.
