Honest Opinion - Check Engine Light Code 52 (Knock Sensor)
First I would like to thank everyone on this board. It has been incredibly informative reading the prior post on this subject, amazing.
I own a 1995 V6, Evze, 4Runner. It has 220K, I've noticed in the last year or so that I have a rough idle in second. Today the idle was rougher than ever and the CEL came one, diag. box gives the lucky code 52. (Knock Sensor)
After researching on this site and others, I've found a mixed review of how well replacing the knock sensor & cable fixes the problem, about half of those who tried had other problems and half said it worked
Two other factors:
a) this is my first car i ever bought, I’ve owned it for over 10 years. Sentimental is an understatement. I've lived in the damn thing for a year before. I love my 'rusty' truck, but I’m also broke and the $200 or so in parts might be better spent on a new ride.
b) i've never done anything like this before, i've changed the starter and some other random stuff, but never gone into the engine. I'm not the most tech savvy and will have to beg/borrow/steal tools, but I can follow directions and have time. and kind of enjoy the challenge
So the big question: is replacing the KS going to be worth it. Or do ole Rusty truck and I part ways?
Anyways thanks for reading

Knock sensor is PROBABLY fine. It's the pigtail that connects it to the wiring harness that gets brittle from the heat of the engine & gives up the ghost. Inexpensive part, GIANT PITA to replace. You have to remove the entire intake, down below the intake manifold.
This is what it looks like:
Be VERY careful pulling the plenum off or you'll break the TVV nipple & you don't want to do that~ best to remove the hoses going to it first. REMOVE YOUR HOOD & your life will be infinitely easier. Only takes 5 minutes & 4 bolts.
