Hitch from a Runner to a Pickup

Hey guys, I need a hitch on my '92 Pickup, I have one on my '91 Runner, that doesn't get used to pull anything, so I was wondering if it's compatible with the pickup?

Not sure if they bolt up the same or not, or if possibly a hitch for a pickup is different because of the pickup bumpers.

I was looking at new ones, they are about $200, which isn't too bad, but if I can use one I already have, that's better.

If I do buy a new one, any tips on installation? I read somewhere that the bumper may need to come off to install the hitch.

Thanks.

Haha....I guess this doesn't interest anybody huh?

It doesn't really interest me either, just wasn't sure if I can swap the hitches. I think I will just buy a new one and be done with it.

I'm 98% sure they will...

On my pickup, the inside frame rails are 41" wide...get under there with a measuring tape and measure the inside of the framerails where it bolts up, then if you wanna be double sure, measure the 4runner framerails...

like i said, im 98% sure it will be a direct bolt up...And as to installing the bumper, it all depends on what angle you approach the frame rails with the bumper mounting brackets...

put the $200 toward some mods...

I have tape measures in every vehicle I drive .

All it takes is a couple minutes crawl under measure all the important dimensions .

Look at where the bolts go .

Compare the 2

I think the 4runner hitch will work on a pickup but a pickup hitch won't work on a 4runner. The 4runner tail gate comes down much farther than the back of the pickup bed. At least this is so on 85-89 4Runners and 84-88 pickups. So the 4Runner hitch would just hang down far and look goofy on a pickup. A pickup one will not clear the tail gate on a 4runner.

I dont think so. SO weird this is here cause I am going theough the exact same situation. Picked up a hitch from a runner # 00214 89920 and it isnt even close to fitting my truck. The truck appears to need a drop of about 4" or so to get under the body and is about an inch to narrow between the frame rails. Maybe the stock bumper brackets would fill this gap. I have no bumper so I dont know.
